CDP News: Aug. 9, 2013

Happy Friday everyone! Welcome to the latest edition of CDP News, where we take a look and the news and happenings around the Center for Deployment Psychology. We’ve got plenty of big things to talk about this time around. The biggest news is that we’ve launched a new version of our website at DeploymentPsych.org. This version has more features, increased functionality and easier navigation to ensure users can find the resources they need to provide the best possible care to Service Members, Veterans and their families.

Our new website will allow users to register and build a personalized profile, sign up for email updates and register for training events. We’re hoping this site makes it easier for providers to connect, not only with CDP and its staff, but with each other. Take a few minutes and go check out our new site! There are still plenty of changes and additions in the works, so keep an eye on the page as we grow. Also, don’t hesitate to let us know of any features you’d like to see on the new DeploymentPsych.org!

While we’re talking about the website, this week’s Staff Voice column on our blog was by Dr. Holly O’Reilly and she discussed the diagnostic differences in PTSD with the new DSM V, as opposed to DSM I-V. While you’re on the blog, take a look at the weekly Research Update as well, for a batch of useful news, journal articles and links from around the web.

Not everything is virtual around the CDP, we’re still hitting the road for plenty of face-to-face training events! Our next live event will be a UC4 program at the University of Nevada Las Vegas on this Thursday, August 15. The following Thursday, August 22, the UC4 program will be in Madison, WI at Madison College. As a reminder, registration for our 2013 Pacific Southwest Regional One-Week Training event in San Diego, CA Oct. 7-11 is open and ongoing as well. It’s a very popular and well-attended class, so if you’re interested, sign up for your spot soon!

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you back here next week!
