Speakers Bureau - Parents of Service Members: An Underserved Population (1.0 to 1.5 hrs.)

Parents play a critical role in supporting their sons and daughters during and after military service. Frequently, they are faced with helping a military child deal with challenges such as deployment and readjustment, as well as emotional and physical injuries. However, these parents can experience their own stress that may be overlooked or minimized.

This training focuses attention on this underserved population who is not typically eligible for care at military treatment centers of VA clinics. Information will be provided on the unique needs of mothers and fathers of Service members, including stressors that can negatively impact their health. Resources and tips to provide optimal care will be shared.
