CDP News: May 31, 2013

Welcome to the roundup of the events and happenings around the Center for Deployment Psychology, it's the weekly CDP News! This was a holiday-shortened week, but we still managed to stay busy on various fronts. We've been preparing for next week's 2013 Midwest Regional 1-Week Civilian Training event in Madison from Monday to Friday. As you can imagine, coordination the personnel, logistics and equipment for a week of training for such a large group takes quite a bit of effort. That being said, we've got everything in place and are looking forward to a great week for both participants and our presenters.

Also, on Wednesday and Thursday of this past week, Dr. Paula Domenici was in Fredericksburg, Virginia speaking to the Wounded Warriors organization on the subject of Prolonged Exposure Therapy.

We'd like to take a minute to remind those who have attended a CDP training on evidence-based therapies about the weekly hosted consultation calls we offer. If you've got questions, specific or general, on EBPs or if you're just looking for some general guidance on implementing the protocols, the consultation calls are a great option. The calls take place every Monday from noon to 1 p.m. EST. The topics alternate between Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy. Visit the Consultation Services page under the Resources tab above (or sign into the Provider Portal) for more information about the calls and other opportunities.

The Staff Voices column this week was the second part of Dr. Regina Shillinglaw's look at Pet Therapy, this time focusing on some of the frequently asked questions on the subject. If you're interested in the topic and you missed it (or the first installment), take a look. Also, don't forget about the weekly Research Update, compiled by CDP's in-house librarian Shirl Kennedy.

That's all for this week. Have a great weekend and we'll see you back here on Monday with a new installment of "By the Numbers"!
