he Center for Deployment Psychology will be presenting a two-day course in the use of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) on 19-20 September 2017, 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern. Registration for the course is $45 and comes with 13.5 CEs. (Please note the refund policy at the bottom of the page.) Capacity for this event is limited and registration will close when all seats have been claimed.
This intensive 2-day module provides training in CPT, an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. It presents theory underlying CPT, a brief overview of CPT’s empirical support, and step-by-step instructions in CPT protocol techniques. Throughout the workshop strategies for conceptualizing and dealing with co-morbidity, managing avoidance, and keeping patients optimally engaged are provided. Video clips of expert therapists demonstrate CPT skills, and participants are asked to do role-plays and other assignments to learn concepts and practice skills.
Attendees are also responsible for acquiring a copy of the required text for this workshop Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD: A Comprehensive Manual by Resick et al., Dec 2016 (1st Edition) [ISBN: 978-1462528646]. as part of the workshop. (CVN participants will have a copy provided to them.) Attendees are responsible to acquire a copy of the text prior to the workshop. This course will be presented via Zoom teleconferencing software. Participants will not have to install any additional programs on their computer to take part. However, a web browser is necessary. Participants can test their computer's capabilities by clicking here (or visiting http://zoom.us/test). We recommend those using Internet connections on government or military locations test their ability to load Zoom in advance of the event to ensure there are no technical difficulties. It is recommended that Mac users access the training link using either the Chrome or Firefox browser to minimize problems. Everyone must participate using a separate computer rather than joining a group of people viewing via one machine.
Mental healthcare providers are eligible to receive CEs upon successful completion of a post-training knowledge evaluation. CEs will be provided via email within two to four weeks after the training. CEs for partial participation will not be awarded. CMEs for medical providers or psychiatrists are not available. CEs will be provided through PESI, Inc.
