This asynchronous training is focused on enhancing behavioral health providers’ understanding of core symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how they are similar to and different from symptoms of other conditions seen in pediatric populations. In addition to learning about core features of ASD and its prevalence in U.S. youth, learners also review the symptoms, presentations, and prevalence of common conditions across domains, including sensory and medical, cognition, communication, mental health, motor movement, and behavior. As these conditions may also be co-occurring for individuals with ASD, learners review similarities and differences in presentations between other conditions and ASD which help with differential diagnosis, or indicating the likelihood that the individual has ASD only, another condition only, or ASD with co-occurrence of another condition. To further enhance learning, participants engage in case studies designed to enhance understanding of how to differentiate symptoms of Autism from other conditions. By the end of the training, learners will have increased understanding of ASD and other common conditions seen in youth as well as enhanced skills in engaging in differential diagnosis of ASD.

Instructional Format
This course is available online as an interactive, reading based asynchronous webinar, including a combination of reading, videos and activities. Participants will complete the course and take an online post-test.
