The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) is offering a half day "refresher" webinar called CBT for Depression: Putting Techniques Into Practice for both military and civilian mental health providers on 21 June 2017 from 1300-1700 East Coast time. Using a web-based platform called Adobe Connect, the webinar will feature both an overview of the 2-day workshop as well as an expanded review of some treatment techniques. This training is free and includes CEs, and the learning objectives will be:
- Describe the key features of effective case conceptualization and treatment planning from a cognitive-behavioral perspective.
- Review behavioral activation strategies that may be used to help treat depressed patients.
- Identify 3 techniques that can be used to challenge automatic thoughts.
- List three cognitive strategies that can be used to modify core beliefs.

To be eligible you must either be civilian mental health provider with a clinical caseload of Service members, Veterans, or their families, or a Tri-Service military/DoD/GS clinician (to include contractors) who provides therapy to Service members at a military facility. Although attendance at the full 2-day CBT-Depression training is not a prerequisite to participate, we do welcome all providers as long as it is understood this webinar will not be a complete overview of the CBT-D treatment protocol.
One must participate in the full 4 hours to receive CEs, as no partial credit will be given. CMEs are not available, but psychiatrists are welcome to participate and arrange for their own credits. This course will be presented via Adobe Connect teleconferencing software. Adobe Connect is web browser-based, however, an add-in may need to be installed before attending. Participants can test their computer's capabilities by clicking here (or visiting http://admin.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm) We recommend those using Internet connections on government or military locations test their ability to load Adobe Connect in advance of the event to ensure there are no technical difficulties. Microphones and webcams are not necessary, but you will need a computer with working speakers or headphones.
If you encounter connection difficulties when using your computer, the Adobe Connect app is also available for iOS and Android devices. Everyone must participate using a separate computer rather than joining a group of people viewing via one machine. We are unable to accommodate anyone by phone. We are unable to provide this training through DCO Connect or as a video link to watch at a later date.
