The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) is offering a 2-day evidence-based workshop on the fundamentals of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D) for behavioral health providers working with Service members and Veterans.  The workshop will be held online via Second Life, 12-13 October 2017, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EASTERNFor an outline of course content, click here.

Registration for the course is $30 and comes with 13.5 CEs. (Please note the refund policy at the bottom of the page.) This course will be held online through Second Life. Participants will need to have an account in Second Life and install the Second Life viewer on their computer in order to take part. Those who don't have a Second Life account can create one and download the Second Life viewer here: http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/.

Description:

Depression in the military will be discussed, as will the theory underlying cognitive behavioral therapy. Participants will learn how to conceptualize depressed patients, plan treatment, and utilize both cognitive and behavioral strategies. Participants will have the opportunity to both watch role-play videos and practice intervention strategies through their own role-plays. Attendance Requirements:
Participants will be required to have a Second Life account and install the Second Life viewer on their computer. If you are unfamiliar with Second Life, we HIGHLY recommend watching these brief orientation videos we have created to introduce Second Life to new participants.

Participants are also required to attend one of the pre-event "open houses" held online in Second Life. This is to ensure that participants can successfully log into Second Life, enter the training space, hear the presenter and speak with them via their computer's microphone. Participants will not need to attend for the entire "open house," just a portion of the two-hour window.

The scheduled times for the open-houses will be announced before registration begins.

​​Participants will need to attend their open house session of choice from the computer and Internet connection they plan on using for the training. This is to ensure all technical issues can be solved in advance of the event. 

CEU Details:
Mental healthcare providers are eligible to receive CEs upon completion of this training. CEs for partial participation will not be awarded. CMEs for medical providers or psychiatrists are not available. CEs will be provided through PESI, Inc.via email within two to four weeks after the completion of the training.
