CDP News: Jan 9, 2015

Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. We’re past the holidays and now there are plenty more events and training opportunities coming up in the new year!

We’re finalizing details for our next Prolonged Exposure Therapy training delivered via Second Life. It’ll be taking place 5-6 February.  Registration for this event will be opening on Monday, 12 January. Space will be limited for this event. We expect this event to fill up, so if you’re interested in attending, we suggest signing up early! If you’re interested in our online training events, keep an eye on our Upcoming Training calendar.

Speaking of online training events, Dr. Paula Domenici will be hosting a webinar on the topic of Moral Injury on next Wednesday, 14 January. Unfortunately, we’ve reached capacity for this event and can’t accept any additional registrants for the live event. However, for those who still would like to see the presentation, we will be posting a recorded version to our Learn Now section after the event. We’ll be posting the schedule for more of our CEU-eligible, quarterly webinars very soon!

We’re also working on our Regional Civilian 1-Week Training calendar for 2015. For our first event, we’ll be heading to the southwest as we visit Phoenix, AZ from 16-20 March. Keep an eye on our Upcoming Training section or the Regional Civilian 1-Week Training page, where we’ll be adding more details about this event, as well as future 1-week training opportunities, soon! If you’d like to be notified when registration for the Phoenix event opens, you can opt-in by completing the form here.

This week’s Staff Perspective column is by Dr. Debra Nofziger. She discusses the recent research comparing standard Cognitive Processing Therapy to Cognitive Processing Therapy – Cognitive Only. Also, don’t forget to take a look at this week’s new Research Update. As always it’s packed with the latest news, articles and useful links and well-worth checking out. It’s been a couple of weeks since we had the last Research Update, so there’s plenty great stuff in there.

That’s all we’ve got for this time around.  Have a great weekend and try to stay warm, where ever you are! We’ll see you back here on Monday for a new edition of the By the Numbers column.
