CDP News: Mar. 6, 2015

Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. Welcome to March everyone! It still feels like winter here at CDP headquarters, but we’re looking ahead to spring and even more events.

Today is the final day to sign up for our Southwest Regional Civilian 1-Week Training. Registration will close at 5:30 p.m. EST today. So if you’re interested in attending, this is your last chance to sign up! The event will be held in Phoenix, AZ from 16-20 March. This five-day event includes numerous training sessions taught by CDP subject matter experts and a choice of two tracks, the first is on PTSD treatment and the other focuses on health psychology and sleep disorders. If you’d like to see all of the available breakout sessions, the agenda is available for viewing here. Registration is $95 and there are more than 30 CEUs available during the program. Seats are limited in this training.

If you’re looking to training opportunities closer to home, our online training may be for you. Our next scheduled online event will be a Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) training presented via Second Life. It will run 2-3 April. Registration for this event will open next week. We’ve also opened registration for our next online webinar on 8 April. This event will provide an overview of the Clinician Administered PTSD Scale for DSM-5 (CAPS-5). You can view the upcoming schedule of webinars by visiting our webinar section here. If you’d like to be notified via email when registration opens for this and future events, you can sign up for our online events list here.

To support the Star Behavioral Health Providers program, we’re headed out to Sacramento, CA next week. The SBHP program is continuing to expand to more and more states, including New York and South Carolina. Head over to the SBHP section of our website to see the current status of the program.

Also, don’t forget to take a look at this week’s new Research Update. As always it’s packed with the latest news, articles and useful links and well-worth checking out.

If you’re interested in learning more about military culture, we suggest checking out the four-module Military Culture: Core Competencies for Healthcare Professionals. This self-paced online course is designed to help providers gain an understanding of the importance of and breadth of military culture. Each of the four modules in the course is eligible for two CEU credits upon completion of the final exam.

That’s it for this time around. Enjoy the weekend everyone and join us back here next week for a new entry in our By the Numbers column.
