November 30, 2012: CDP News

Before we wrap up the week and the month here, we've got the latest happenings here in today's CDP News entry. It was a relatively slow week as we ramp up for next week's events, but we still managed to spend a few days down in Portsmouth, VA for a a training session. Next week will be a big one however, as we'll have multiple events around the country.

First up, starting on Monday we'll be bringing our one-week course "Addressing the Psychological Needs of Warriors and Their Families"to Blacksburg, VA. These events always take a lot of planning and effort, but are well worth it to be able to offer an extended period of training to civilian behavioral health providers.

At the same time, all next week, we'll also be holding our eight-day military orientated "Topics in Deployment Psychology" course in Bethesda, MD. With these two courses running in parallel, many of our staff members are going to be quite busy keeping everything going smoothly. These are the last instances of the courses for year, so we hope to finish up on a high note! Visit our civilian and military training pages to check our where we're headed in the new year.

If those two big events weren't enough, we've also go other things happening too! On Wednesday and Thursday, CDP's Executive Director Dr. David Riggs will be headed to Indiana to teach the latest iteration of the STAR Behavioral Health Program. Then next Saturday, Dec. 8, Dr. Holly O'Reilly is going to present an overview of PTSD for the Penn State Hershey College of Medicine in Chicago. Things look to be very busy through the holidays, but that's the way we like it!

Don't forget to check out some of the great content on our blog from this week including Dr. Augusto Ruiz's review of "Therapist and Legal Issues for Therapists Who Have Survived a Client Suicide: Breaking the Silence" as well as an extra-large helping of our weekly Research Update compiled by our in-house librarian, Shirl Kennedy. See everyone next week!
