The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) is offering a 2-day evidence-based workshop 13-14 December 2018, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern, entitled "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)" online via Zoom teleconferencing software. Registration for the course is $45 and comes with 13.5 CEs. (Please note the refund policy at the bottom of the page.) Description: This 2-day workshop provides training in the assessment and treatment of deployment related sleep disturbance with a focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), an evidence-based approach to treating sleep problems. It covers the rates and types of sleep problems identified in the military population, highlights current research findings on this topic, and reviews clinical strategies and interventions. The instructors teach skills for using Stimulus Control and Sleep Restriction to treat insomnia, and Imagery Rehearsal Therapy to address nightmares. Military case examples are incorporated to illustrate key concepts and techniques. Participants are expected to do role-plays in class to practice CBT-I techniques, and they must attend both days.
This course will be presented via Zoom teleconferencing software. Zoom is browser-based, however an add-in may need to be installed before attending. Participants can test their computer's capabilities by clicking here (or visiting https://zoom.us/test). We recommend those using Internet connections on government or military locations test their ability to load Zoom in advance of the event to ensure there are no technical difficulties. Microphones and webcams are not necessary, but you will need a computer with working speakers or headphones. If you encounter connection difficulties when using your computer, the Zoom app is also available for iOS and Android devices.
If you participate in the Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) program and want to register for this online EBP workshop, please note that it will not qualify as an SBHP Tier 3. While you are welcome to attend the training, your participation will not be tracked by SBHP, nor listed on the SBHP registry.
