Course information

The Center for Deployment Psychology will be presenting a two-day course in the use of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) on 21-22 October 2021, 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Registration for the course comes with 14 CEs. (Please note the CE details at the bottom of the page). Capacity for this event is limited and registration will close when all seats have been claimed, even if this is before the final registration date. This event has now been opened to non-DoD participants.

Description: This intensive two-day module provides training in CPT, an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. It presents theory underlying CPT, a brief overview of CPT’s empirical support, and step-by-step instructions in CPT protocol techniques. Throughout the workshop strategies for conceptualizing and dealing with co-morbidity, managing avoidance, and keeping patients optimally engaged are provided. Video clips of expert therapists demonstrate CPT skills, and participants are asked to do role-plays and other assignments to learn concepts and practice skills.

System Requirements: This course will be presented via Zoom teleconferencing software. Participants will not have to install any additional programs on their computer to take part. However, a web browser is necessary. (Mac users are recommended to use the Chrome or Firefox browsers to minimize tech issues). Participants can test their computer's capabilities by clicking here (or visiting http://zoom.us/test). We recommend all participants test their ability to load Zoom in advance of the event to ensure there are no technical difficulties. All participants must log in via an individual connection, rather than as a group using one machine. A headset/headphones are recommended.
A functioning microphone is also MANDATORY to attend this training, to allow for participation in role-play sessions.

If you participate in the Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) program and want to register for this online EBP workshop, please note that it will not qualify as an SBHP Tier 3. While you are welcome to attend the training, your participation will not be tracked by SBHP, nor listed on the SBHP registry.

Attendees are also responsible for acquiring a copy of the required text for this workshop Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD: A Comprehensive Manual by Resick et al., Dec 2016 (1st Edition) [ISBN: 978-1462528646]. as part of the workshop. Attendees are responsible to acquire a copy of the text prior to the workshop. It is available in print and electronic versions, and may be purchased from a number of vendors.
