Course information

Understanding military culture and the ways military service and deployments impact couples is critical when providing counseling to military-connected clients.

The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) now offers webinars which are specially designed to support clinicians who provide couples counseling to this population. This module will run from 1-3 p.m. EASTERN on 19 October 2021. Each module incorporates research, best clinical practices and interactive activities.  Please note, space in this event is limited. Registration will close once all seats are filled, even if this is before the final registration date.

Description: This training provides active duty and civilian mental health providers with an overview of Dr. Douglas Snyders' three-stage model for treating infidelity. The training begins by defining behaviors that constitute an affair and then explores issues which may be specific to military couples.  Next, the three-stage model is introduced along with tasks to be accomplished during therapy and treatment goals for each stage.

This course will be presented via Zoom teleconferencing software. Zoom is browser-based, however an add-in may need to be installed before attending. The Center for Deployment Psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.
