Brief Description:

This four-hour training module provides civilian behavioral health providers with an awareness of the impact of parental exposure to military stressors and trauma on children. The training explores the exacerbation of the family system as it relates to military families. Common child behavioral and emotional reactions to parental distress associated with trauma will be examined. The presentation then concludes by reviewing strategies to address the emotional and behavioral difficulties in children, with an emphasis on psychoeducation for the non-military/non-distressed parent and cognitive behavioral therapy for children.
