Andrew J. Wawrzyniak, Ph.D.
Andrew J. Wawrzyniak, Ph.D., is a Research Psychologist at the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. As part of the Military Child and Family Collaboratory, Dr. Wawrzyniak’s current work examines barriers and facilitators to accessing and being retained in mental health care. His current research projects leverage electronic medical record data in military families to examine clinic-, provider-, and patient-level factors associated with linkage to and retention in mental health care. Additionally, his work will help develop a novel telehealth referral network across multiple Military Health System (MHS) sites to increase workforce capacity at military treatment facilities.
Dr. Wawrzyniak earned a Master of Science in biology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Master of Arts in psychology from New York University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology with a focus on health psychology and individual differences from the University of Edinburgh. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology at USUHS. Prior to joining CDP, Dr. Wawrzyniak was a research assistant professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine. His overall research portfolio focuses on psychosocial, socioeconomic, and systemic factors impacting health outcomes in disadvantaged patients living with chronic illnesses.
