This 90-minute (75-minutes didactics, 15-minutes Q&A) webinar will present a general overview of ethical issues that can arise when civilian providers work with the military population. A summary of basic terms will be presented with examples. Ethical challenges that are commonly encountered when working with military clients will be presented and discussed. Discussion of each ethical challenge will be augmented with a clinical vignette that illustrates the challenge with a real-world example.

Learning Objectives

  • Define ethics as it relates to the role of the mental health provider.
  • Identify five (5) ethical challenges common to mental health providers working with the military population.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the challenges and how to minimize them through discussion of military case examples during the presentation.
