Andrew Devendorf, Ph.D.
Andrew Devendorf, Ph.D., is a Military Behavioral Health Psychologist with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine. He serves as a subject matter expert in suicide prevention for the VA SAFEGUARD project.
Dr. Devendorf earned his undergraduate degree from DePaul University and his master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the University of South Florida. He completed his clinical internship at the Seattle Puget Sound VA and a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Systems Research with the Seattle-Denver Center of Innovation for Veteran-Centered and Value-Driven Care.
His work focuses on suicide prevention, depression, and mental health stigma among Veterans and military populations. He has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications and received federal funding from the National Institute of Mental Health in affiliation with the Suicide Care Research Center at the University of Washington. He leads efforts to translate research into practice, helping improve access to and implementation of evidence-based care. Dr. Devendorf is also a regular contributor to Psychology Today and has written for outlets including the Conversation, HuffPost, and Psyche Magazine. Clinically, he provides evidence-based psychotherapies for depression, anxiety, suicide, and trauma-related disorders.
