Human Performance Optimization (HPO), first released in 2007, now serves to fuel the Department of Defense's (DoD) efforts to realign the Military Health System (MHS) and improve the treatment and care of Service members. HPO offers a paradigm shift by changing the way we look at and care for Service members. For this presentation, we will use HPO to explore the diversity of Service members' and their psychological needs through their mission essential tasks, unit culture, and mission environments to compliment psychological performance, prevention, and restoration efforts. An overview of HPO and its underpinnings will be presented, alongside case examples across the full spectrum of mental health care. In addition, a brief introduction to the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) and the Human Performance Resource Center (HPRC) will be provided.
