1. Why was The Winter Institute established?
We saw the need to reach those students who are not able to travel to and attend The Summer Institute in-person at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD and/or for whom the summer does not fit their schedule.
2. What is the difference between The Summer Institute and The Winter Institute?
- The Winter Institute is online while The Summer Institute is in-person
- The Winter Institute is three days, while The Summer Institute is five days
- The Summer Institute covers more extensive topics
3. Can I attend both The Summer Institute and The Winter Institute?
Students may apply to either, but cannot attend both The Summer Institute and The Winter Institute. Course content and key objectives overlap. If students are not accepted to a course, they can choose to apply to the other course or to re-apply to a future iteration of that course.
4. If I was not accepted to attend The Summer Institute, can I apply to The Winter Institute?
Yes, if you were not accepted to The Summer Institute you can apply to The Winter Institute.
5. What are the hours of The Winter Institute?
Although the hours may vary slightly, generally students will need to be available between 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Eastern each day. A one-hour long lunch and two 15-minute breaks will be given each day.
6. What platform is the Winter Institute presented on?
The Winter Institute will be presented on the Zoom platform.
