Description:
This self-paced, interactive training explains evidence-based strategies that behavioral health providers can utilize to enhance suicide prevention efforts amongst youth, including special considerations for work with military-connected children and adolescents. Learners review the research and evidence-based practices associated with four key trends in suicide prevention, including: building skills and using protective factors to mitigate risk; identifying those at risk; utilizing effective, evidence-based responses; and fostering engagement across supportive, collaborative systems. Case studies embedded throughout the training help learners extend their understanding of how to integrate child development and military context when implementing suicide prevention practices with military youth. By the end of the training, learners will be able to explain key components of a comprehensive suicide prevention framework and will have greater understanding of how to integrate these considerations into work with military youth.
