Description: This intensive two-day module provides training in CPT, an evidence-based treatment for PTSD. It presents theory underlying CPT, a brief overview of CPT’s empirical support, and step-by-step instructions in CPT protocol techniques. Throughout the workshop strategies for conceptualizing and dealing with co-morbidity, managing avoidance, and keeping patients optimally engaged are provided. Video clips of expert therapists demonstrate CPT skills, and participants are asked to do role-plays and other assignments to learn concepts and practice skills.

Attendance Requirements:
Participants must attend individually, as opposed to multiple participants logged on via a single connection. They will be required to have a Second Life account and install the Second Life viewer on their computer. Those who do not have a Second Life account can sign up and download the viewer here: http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/Click the gold "Join Now" at the top of the page to create an account and click the "Download the SL Viewer" button to get the Second Life viewer.

If you are unfamiliar with Second Life, we HIGHLY recommend watching these brief orientation videos we have created to introduce Second Life to new participants.

Participants are also required to attend one of the pre-event "open houses" held online in Second Life. This is to ensure that participants can successfully log into Second Life, enter the training space, hear the presenter and speak with them via their computer's microphone. Participants will not need to attend for the entire "open house," just a portion of the two-hour window. Participants must attend this "open house" session from the computer and Internet connection they intend to use for the training.

The scheduled times for the "open houses" will be as follows:

  • 6 December, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Eastern
