Importantly, this lack of sleep opportunity and consequential sleep deprivation can have significant effects on one’s physical and mental health as well as their safety. Whether it be caring for a child, managing external demands such as work, or being in a combat zone, strategies can be implemented to mitigate against the effects of sleep deprivation during these periods.
