Understanding National Guard/Reserve-Connected Children: A Presentation for Daycare and Preschool Providers

Brief Description:

This two-hour training module offers daycare and preschool providers a general overview of National Guard/Reserve-connected children. It presents a summary of who these children are and what they and their families go through that distinguishes them from their non-military connected peers. Factors that can promote or impede their well-being and functioning are discussed. The presentation concludes with strategies and resources that daycare and preschool providers can use to support them.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Consider unique challenges faced by National Guard/Reserve-connected children in daycare and preschool.
  2. Specific risk and protective factors that affect National Guard/Reserve-connected children

This two-hour training module offers elementary and middle school educators a general overview of National Guard/Reserve-connected children. The presentation concludes with strategies and resources that elementary and middle school educators can use to support them in their schools.
