This 90-minute (75-minutes didactics, 15-minutes Q&A) webinar will introduce behavioral health and other providers, with no or minimal prior exposure to the study of sleep science, to the basics of sleep theories, physiology and regulation, as well as introduce an overview of sleep-related diagnoses in the DSM-5 with the premise that the range of sleep disorders is broad and not limited to sleep inability. Additionally, this webinar serves as a refresher on knowledge of sleep for providers who previously have training in a behavioral sleep treatment such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI) or Brief Behavioral Treatment of Insomnia (BBTI).
Learning Objectives:
- Articulate the Two-Process (Homeostatic & Circadian) Model of Sleep
- Contrast the four stages of sleep
- Differentiate normal verus abnormal sleep presentations
- Discriminate three different categories of DSM-5 sleep disorder diagnoses
