PURPOSE. In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive (DoDD) 5124.02 (Reference (a)) and the guidance in DoDDs 6200.04 and 1400.31 (References (b) and (c)), this Instruction establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for ensuring that Service members and DoD civilian employees, including Coast Guard Service members and civilian employees at all times, including when the Coast Guard is a Service in the Department of Homeland Security by agreement with that Department, (hereafter referred to collectively as “DoD personnel”) deployed and deploying on contingency deployments are medically able to accomplish their duties in deployed environments.
