There are multiple EBPs providers can employ when trauma is the target of treatment. Introducing a Patient to PE and CPT (short)

CPT: Identifying the Index Trauma
By asking specific questions and providing a careful explanation of the rationale behind this approach, the therapist works with the client to determine which trauma is most likely causing the majority of symptoms.

In this case, the therapist must help the client sort out one event from among many which seem similar and equally distressing.
