Clinical Research Assistant I - Project Safeguard: HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant I to support the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, MD. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians of military-connected individuals. CDP currently provides training in Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Suicide Prevention, CBT for Insomnia, Brief Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, and military culture, among others. CDP’s research includes the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based psychotherapies; behavioral health services research; and patient focused research on mental health disorders such as PTSD, insomnia, nightmares, moral injury, and suicide prevention. This position will support activities on the VA Suicide Prevention Contract, Project Safeguard.

- Assists with the development and refinement of training materials and protocol study materials for ongoing studies.
- Maintains clear and accurate project records, data files, and inventories, and assists with the development of progress reports as assigned in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner. May perform data entry and establish and maintain databases.
- Performs administrative duties such as: scheduling appointments and maintaining team trackers.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Clinical Research Assistant II - Military Sleep Study: HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant II to support the research portfolio of the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, MD. Postdoctoral Fellow: HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to support studies of pediatric eating disorders and military child weight-based stigma at the Medical & Clinical Psychology (MPS) Department of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) in Bethesda, MD.
The postdoctoral fellow would work primarily under the supervision of Dr. Marian Tanofsky-Kraff and Dr. Natasha Schvey. The positions will be focused on two clinical research projects: 1) a multi-site study (with University of Pittsburg and Mount Sinai Hospital) to validate a measure for screening eating disorders that will be relevant for both civilian and military pediatric populations; and 2) a study to elucidate multiple forms of weight stigma and their impacts on parent and child functioning, health, and well-being. Fellows will be involved in performing research tasks related to these trials, as well as supervising research assistants and graduate students in relevant research duties. In addition, fellows will have opportunities to develop research programs by writing training grant applications and author peer-reviewed manuscripts. Moreover, as part of MPS, fellows will participate in educational and career development trainings and workshops and become involved in other ongoing clinical research studies in the program. The positions are designed to support individuals interested in a future independent research program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research and/or development.

Clinical Research Coordinator II MEDB Regan Lab: HJF is seeking a highly motivated college graduate to serve as a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator II on a study of social media use interventions with military-connected adolescents. This position will support Dr. Timothy Regan at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ (USU) Medical and Clinical Psychology (MPS) Department, which is based in Bethesda, MD.
The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Regan and coordinate an online randomized controlled trial of social media use interventions in adolescents. This position requires an individual who is highly responsible and has excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, particularly with children and families. This position is ideal for individuals planning to pursue graduate work in psychology, public health, or medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of research efforts, including recruitment, scheduling, and retention of participants throughout the study
- Closely tracking participant’s progress throughout the trial period, including daily and follow-up contact via email/text/video chat with adolescent participants regarding study procedures
- Conducting study interviews and administering surveys to adolescents.
