Speaker Bios

Matthew Yoder, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist at the Executive Division of the VA’s National Center for PTSD and an Associate Professor in the Clinical & School Psychology Program at the University of Virginia. For seven years Dr. Yoder was a staff psychologist on the PTSD Clinical Team at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina, where his clinical practice centered around providing Prolonged Exposure (PE). He also served as a PTSD mentor for PTSD program directors in his region and as a consultant for the national PE rollout training.

In addition, he has provided trainings in PE in numerous settings including Charleston, SC, Melbourne, Australia, and Tokyo, Japan and worked on several large multi-site RCT studies of PE. His research is focused on studying the effectiveness of exposure-based therapies for PTSD and in addition to PE efficacy research, he has collaborated on grants exploring mindfulness-based approaches for the treatment of PTSD, comorbid PTSD and substance use disorders, and treatments for PTSD and severe mental illness. Dr. Yoder received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 2008.

 

Jenna Ermold, Ph.D.Jenna Ermold, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist working as the Assistant Director of Training and Education for the Center for Deployment Psychology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. Her responsibilities include developing online training materials for behavioral health clinicians to improve competency in working with military members and their families.

She is a graduate of the Malcolm Grow (USAF) Medical Center Psychology Residency Program and served on active duty as a psychologist in the United States Air Force from 2002 to 2006.

Dr. Ermold graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in psychology and English and received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Vermont. She specializes in health psychology, behavioral health integration into primary care, women’s reproductive behavioral health, post-traumatic stress disorder and military psychology.
