The Winter Institute Frequently Asked Questions

1.   Why was The Winter Institute established?

We saw the need to reach those students who are not able to travel to and attend The Summer Institute in-person at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD and/or for whom the summer does not fit their schedule.

2.   What is the difference between The Summer Institute and The Winter Institute?

  • The Winter Institute is online while The Summer Institute is in-person
  • The Winter Institute is three days, while the Summer Institute is five days
  • The Summer Institute is longer, with more extensive topics, including Assessment of PTSD, CBT for Suicide Prevention, and Moral Injury

3.   Can I attend both The Summer Institute and The Winter Institute?

You cannot attend both The Summer Institute and The Winter Institute. Students will have to choose one or the other. Taking both would also be redundant, as several sessions and panels are the same.

4.   If I am not accepted to attend the Summer Institute, can I apply to the Winter Institute?

Yes, if you are not accepted to the Summer Institute you can apply to the Winter Institute and vice-versa, if you are not accepted to The Winter Institute, you can apply to The Summer Institute.
