Training

In the Training component of the study, the focus is on enhancing readiness to utilize tele-mentoring and tele-education tools, telehealth, and technology-based solutions. The training agenda involves a multifaceted approach with continuous refinement and enhancement of technology and educational products, tailored to the specific needs of developmental and behavioral health support, and services for youth with MEDB needs. Barriers to access are being addressed through innovative strategies, such as Project ECHO®. Additionally, important training-related topics for parents and professionals relevant to working with and growing the knowledge base of parents and caregivers are explored. This includes identifying training needs, primary prevention efforts, asynchronous learning initiatives, virtual or in-person training, digital training tools, and Project ECHO® opportunities. Furthermore, efforts toward collating these resources for greater accessibility and awareness are reviewed and refined.

Activities:

  • Project ECHO®
  • Child Psychiatry Access Program (CPAP)
  • Digital Parent-Led Behavior Management tools
  • Developmental Advice Line/DPAP
  • Asynchronous/On-Demand trainings
  • Synchronous/LIVE training - MATCH-ADTC
  • Digital resource library
  • Provider digital training tools

Enhancing Health Care and Support for Military-Connected Youth with Mental Health, Emotional, Developmental, and/or Behavioral Needs Through Technology

The Training Hub is a centralized resource that highlights approved training opportunities offered through the Military Child & Family Collaboratory (MCFC). These trainings are developed and delivered by Collaboratory partners to expand provider capacity, strengthen workforce development, and improve access to high-quality care, particularly through telehealth and innovative education models for military-connected children and families.

Trainings are available in a variety of formats to support flexible learning needs:

  • Asynchronous (On-Demand): Self-paced modules that can be completed at any time.
  • Live Virtual (Synchronous): Real-time, online trainings with scheduled sessions and opportunities for interaction.
  • Recorded Webinars: Previously delivered trainings available for later viewing.
  • In-Person: Live, on-site trainings conducted at specific locations.
  • ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes): A guided, case-based virtual learning model that connects participants with subject matter experts and peers for ongoing mentorship, discussion, and skill-building over a series of sessions.

The Hub provides clear, accessible information on each training including format, registration details, eligibility, and next steps. Because many trainings have specific limits on seat availability, location, and target audiences, participants are strongly encouraged to carefully review registration details to ensure eligibility and timely enrollment.
