CDP News: 18 May 2018

Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. May is just flying by and we’ve got lots to talk about.

On Wednesday, we continued our “Forces for Health: Warrior Wednesday” series with "Facilitating a Multi-disciplinary, Culturally–informed Response to Interpersonal Violence and Anger." If you missed it, we’ll be adding a recording of the presentation for on-demand viewing next week. Recordings of the first two presentations “Moral Injury: Healing the Spiritual Wounds of War” and “Trauma Informed Care: Empowering Warriors to Promote Recovery” are already available for on-demand viewing. The overall goal of the series is to bring healthcare disciplines together to discuss culturally-informed, multi-disciplinary care and wellness for our Armed Forces members and Veterans across the lifespan. Next Wednesday, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Eastern, we’ll be wrapping up the series with our final webinar “A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Management of Pain and Opioid Misuse Prevention.”  As with our CDP Presents events, participants who attend and successfully complete a post-training survey/knowledge evaluation will receive one free CE. For more information or to register, please click here.

Then on Tuesday and Wednesday, we held our latest online evidence-based psychotherapy (EBP) training event, Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy via Second Life. June EBP event will be Cognitive Processing Therapy via Second Life on 18-19 June. Registration is $45 and comes with 13.5 CEs. We’ve recently added a number of new events over the course of the next year to our upcoming calendar. All our currently scheduled events can be found on our upcoming training calendar. If you would like to be notified by email of upcoming online events, you can also sign up by completing the form here.

On the CDP blog this week, we took a look at the Couples Webinar series. On Thursday, we held all three modules of our Couples webinar series, “Military and Veteran Couples: Elements of the Assessment Process,” “Military and Veteran Couples: Evidence-Based Approaches to Treatment,” and “An Intervention Model for Working with Military Couples Who Have Experiences Infidelity”. For more information about the various sessions, you can visit our Couples Webinar Series page here. We’re looking for the opportunity to schedule another round of these presentations. Also, the Research Update is back after a week off. As usual, it’s a great summary of the latest news, journal articles, and useful links from around the web.

That’s it for this time around. We hope everyone has a great weekend! Come back and join us right here on Monday for another new By the Numbers! Until then also make sure that you’re following CDP on your choice of social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn.
