CDP News: Oct. 25, 2013

Welcome to Friday and another edition of CDP News, where we spend a few minutes reviewing recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. This week our University Counseling Center Core Competency (UC4) program was in Alabama to present at Auburn University. Thanks to all of the attendees for helping us to have such a great event! Next up for the UC4 is Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, CA on 14 November. If you’re interested in learning more about the UC4 program or bringing it to your college or university, please visit our UC4 section here.

One other interesting item of news from this week is that we now have our own entry on Wikipedia! You can view the Center for Deployment Psychology’s page here. It’s a relatively small page, but we’re hoping to see it expanded in the future. It’s nice to see it up there and hopefully it will help us spread awareness of our mission to even more people.

We’ve recently a new job posting for an Online Services Project Coordinator in our Jobs section. There are a few other open positions in that section as well. Check it out if you or someone you know is interested in working for CDP.

This week’s Staff Perspectives column was a somber one, in which CDP deputy director Dr. Bill Brim reflected upon the recent passing of Congressman Charles William “Bill” Young. Congressman Young was a good friend to Service members and to the CDP. He will be greatly missed by all.

On a happier note, we’d like to welcome the newest member of the CDP team, Dr. Jeffrey Mann. Recently separated from the Air Force, he joins us as the EBP Champion Project Liaison here at headquarters. Welcome aboard, Jeff!

That’s all for this time around. Have a great weekend and we’ll see everyone back here next week!
