CDP News: Nov. 1, 2013
Welcome to Friday and November everyone! It’s time for the latest edition of CDP News, where we take a look back at recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking at upcoming events. Even with the holidays approaching, we’re staying busy and hitting the road. This week, we had representatives from our University Counseling Center Core Competency (UC4) program attending the annual conference of the Association for University and College Counseling Center Directors in order to spread the word about the great work the UC4 program does.
As a reminder, if you’ve attended a CDP-led training in evidence-base therapy (PE, CPT, CBT, etc.), you should have access to the members section on our website. Once you sign in, you’ll find a wealth of resources, forms, handouts, a members’ forum, and many other tools to assist you in the use of EBTs in your practice. We also offer weekly live consultation calls with CDP staff members to assist you if you have specific questions or problems on implementing EBT. Sign in and check it out today!
If you haven’t attended a CDP training and are interested in doing so, this week we announced that our next 1-week training event will be held in the Washington D.C. metro area next April. We’re expecting to start registration for the event in January, so keep an eye out for more details as we finalize them. Click here for more information about our 1-week training program.
In this week’s Staff Perspectives column, Laura Copland examined the concept of Moral Injury and how it is similar to and different than Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. It’s an interesting and important topic, so take a few minutes to check it out, if you haven’t already. Also, don’t forget about the weekly Research Update, which is packed with relevant news, journal articles and useful links from around the Web.
Finally, if you or someone you know is interested in working here at the CDP, head over to our Jobs page where we have several postings for available positions, both here at CDP headquarters and in other areas around the country. That’s all for now. We’ll see you next week!
