CDP News: 16 February 2018
Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. We’re preparing for the long weekend, but we’ve got a few items to cover first.
We held a Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) training on Thursday and Friday. There was a huge demand for this one, so we’re looking to schedule another session as soon as we can. In the meantime, we opened up registration for next month’s online Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression (CBT-D) on 14-15 March. Registration is $45 and comes with 13.5 CE credits. All our currently scheduled events can be found on our upcoming training calendar. If you would like to be notified by email of upcoming online events, you can also sign up by completing the form here.
We also presented the latest iteration in the 2018 Couples Webinar Series "Military and Veteran Couples: Elements of the Assessment Process". We’ve got two more sessions in this round. On Tuesday, we’ll present “Military and Veteran Couples: Evidence-Based Approaches to Treatment," then we’ll hold “An Intervention Model for Working with Military Couples Who have Experienced Infidelity” on 27 February. Each course stands alone and participants can take one or all three, depending on their interest. Each course also comes with two CE credits and registration for each is only $10.00. For more information or to register, head over to the CWS section of our website.
This week in the CDP Blog, we had a great guest blog from Carolyn Furdek, a retired Army Captain and physical therapist. In “Think Outside the Box” she details her struggles and successes with overcoming mental health challenges. Also, as always, don’t forget to check out this week's Research Update, with the latest news, journal articles, and useful links from around the Web.
On Tuesday and Wednesday our training team was in Fort Wayne, Indiana for the Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) program. SBHP is a tier-based continuing education program offering CEs to clinical professionals through up-to-date workshops focused on the unique needs of the military community at no cost. For more information about this program or to find out if it’s available in your state, visit the SBHP section of our website here.
That’s it for this week’s CDP News. We hope everyone has a good holiday weekend and we’ll see you back here next week!
