CDP News: 4 May 2018
Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. It’s May and feeling like summer here at CDP headquarters. It’s going to be a busy month, so let’s get to it!
On Wednesday, we kicked off our “Forces for Health: Warrior Wednesday” series with "Moral Injury: Healing the Spiritual Injuries of War." If you missed it, we’ll be adding a recording of the presentation for on-demand viewing. The overall goal of the series is to bring healthcare disciplines together to discuss culturally-informed, multi-disciplinary care and wellness for our Armed Forces members and Veterans across the lifespan. On 9 May, we’ll be following up with “Trauma Informed Care: Empowering Warriors to Promote Recovery.” As with our CDP Presents events, participants who attend and successfully complete a post-training survey/knowledge evaluation will receive one free CE. For more information or to register, please click here.
Tuesday is the final day to register for our next online evidence-based training, Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy via Second Life on 15-16 May. Registration is $45 and comes with 13.5 CE credits. Next week, we’ll also be opening sign-ups for our June EBP event, Cognitive Processing Therapy via Second Life on 18-19 June. All our currently scheduled events can be found on our upcoming training calendar. If you would like to be notified by email of upcoming online events, you can also sign up by completing the form here.
Speaking of upcoming online events, on 17 May, we’ll be presenting all three modules of our Couples webinar series. The modules will be “Military and Veteran Couples: Elements of the Assessment Process” from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Eastern, then “Military and Veteran Couples: Evidence-Based Approaches to Treatment” from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and finally “An Intervention Model for Working with Military Couples Who Have Experiences Infidelity” from 3 to 5 p.m. Registration is $10 per session and each session comes with two CE credits. For more information about the various sessions or to register, you can visit our Couples Webinar Series page here.
Over in the CDP Blog, this week’s Staff Perspective took a look at May’s “Forces for Health: Warrior Wednesday”. We’re very excited about these great presentations. After such a rousing start this week, we’re looking forward to the next three events! Also, as always, don’t forget to check out this week's Research Update, with the latest news, journal articles, and useful links from around the Web. As a scheduling note, there won’t be a Research Update next week, but it’ll be back again on 17 May.
That’s it for this time around. Have a great weekend and be sure to join us right back here on Monday for another new By the Numbers!
