The percentage of military casualties in "Non-Overseas Contingency Operations" (Non-OCO) 2006 that were related to accidents involving substance abuse, according to a new brief from the Congressional Research Service (CRS) -- Recent Trends in Active-Duty Military Deaths.
Overall, according to the brief, 8% of all Non-OCO deaths were related to substance abuse, including illnesses, injuries, and "self-inflicted" injuries in addition to accidents.
