CDP News: 27 July 2018
Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. We're heading into the final week of July and the fall is just around the corner.
It was a busy week! On Tuesday, we held the first iteration of our online Assessing Military Clients for Trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder course. It went very well and we're looking to schedule another session in the near future. Yesterday we held the final session of our 2018 Forces for Health program, “Be Ready – The Role of Culturally-Informed Multidisciplinary Care in Recovery.” This is a continuation of our "Forces for Health" program from May. This webinar examined the readiness of providers, both in the VA and private care, to deliver culturally competent care to Veterans and military-connected patients. If you missed it, don't worry. We'll be posting a recording soon for on-demand view. As with most of our Forces for Health events, those who register and complete a brief post-training survey/evaluation will receive one free CE. For more information, head over the the Forces for Health section of our website.
Registration is also available for our online training in Prolonged Exposure via Second Life on 2-3 August. This event is $45 and comes with 13.5 CEs. If you would like to be notified by email of upcoming online events, you can also sign up by completing the form here. Sign-ups close at the close of business today, so if you're interested in registering, do it today!
Over on the CDP Blog, Dr. Kelly Chrestman continues to work on this month's theme of stigma with her piece "Stigma: Beyond the Stereotypes." Also, don’t forget to check out our weekly Research Update, as usual, it’s a great summary of the latest news, journal articles, and useful links from around the web.
That's all for this week. We hope everyone has a great weekend out there. We'll see you next Monday for a brand new entry in our "By the Numbers" series!
