June 15, 2012: CDP News
It's time to wrap the week up with the latest news and announcements from the Center for Deployment Psychology. We were busy this week running the first half of the "Topics in Deployment Psychology" course. That's five days down and three more to go! We'd like to thank all of our presenters as well as the participants for helping to make this a successful iteration. After next week, it will be time to start working on the September session!
This training has kept us from doing a lot of outside presentations, but the next one will feature the CDP's Executive Director, Dr. David Riggs, delivering an "Overview of PTSD" and an "Overview of Suicide/Depression in the Military" for Maryland's Commitment to Veterans in Salisbury MD on June 27.
Speaking of Dr. Riggs, he was recently featured on an webcast from the APA and the White Houses's Joining Forces initiative. It's entitled "Caring for the Military Family: What We All Should Know About Military Culture and the Stress of Deployment". The recording is free (through September 10, 2012) and provides two CEUs. It's available for viewing here: http://apa.bizvision.com/product/clinicians-corner-on-demand-recordings/caring-for-the-military-family-what-we-all-should-know-about-military-culture-and-the-stress-of-deployment-on-demand-recording(6984)
That's it from our end. Have a great weekend, everyone!
