12.9% and 4.3%
The percentages of anxiety disorders among American adults who, respectively, did not complete high school, and those with at least an undergraduate college degrees. These data points come from a recently released brief by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality -- Adults with Less Education Most Likely to Have a Past Year Anxiety Disorder (PDF). While the brief cautions that the data -- which comes from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health’s 2008 to 2012 Mental Health Surveillance Study -- cannot be used to determine specifically whether anxiety disorders prevented people from finishing high school, "... having an anxiety disorder can lower the odds of graduating from high school and the odds of attending college."
