CDP News: 11 August 2017
Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. The end of summer is coming up fast, but there is plenty to talk about in the fall as well.
This Thursday will be the final day to register for our next online EBP training, suicide prevention training on 22-23 August. Registration will also be opening next week for the online Cognitive Processing Training event on 19-20 September. This CPT event will be presented via Zoom. For more info on Zoom (and our other virtual platforms), head over to our online training page here. All of our currently scheduled events can be found on our upcoming training calendar. If you would like to be notified when registration begins for any upcoming online event, you can sign up by completing the form here.
It’s not all online either! On Wednesday and Thursday, CDP trainers will be visiting Detroit, MI as part of the Star Behavioral Health Providers program. This program is designed to train clinical professionals through free workshops focused on the unique needs of the military community. For more information or to find out if it’s available in your state, head over to the SBHP page on our site.
This month, we’re doing a spotlight on moral injury. We’ll be showcasing numerous resources and tools to learn more about this important concept. There are webinar recordings, blogs, websites, and more. Just click here and check out all of the great content available.
Coming up next month, we’ll be teaming up with Cohen Veterans Network to offer four presentations, one per week. These webinars will all focus on suicide prevention, as September is Suicide Awareness Month. The first event will be held on 6 September and entitled “Veteran Suicide Data and VA Prevention Programs.” Registration is available here. We’ll be opening sign-ups for the rest of the September webinars soon as well!
Over on the CDP blog, this week’s Staff Perspective column was by Dr. Jeffery Mann entitled, “Advances in the Treatment of Combined Borderline Personality Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.” Also, don’t forget to check out this week’s Research Update with all the latest news, journal articles and useful links from around the Web.
That’s all for this time around. Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy the summer while it lasts! Don’t forget to come back and see us on Monday for a new entry in the “By the Numbers” column!
