CDP News: Feb. 21, 2014
Welcome to this week’s CDP News update! We like to spend a few minutes to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. With the President’s Day holiday on Monday, we had a shortened week, but we’ve still got plenty of upcoming training events and opportunities to talk about. First up, the registration for our upcoming 1-week training event, 14-18 April, in Washington, D.C. is filling up quick. There is a limited amount of space available, so if you’re interested in attending, you should sign up soon!
Speaking of upcoming events, we’re planning on opening registration for our first online Prolonged Exposure Therapy training by the end of next week. We’ve been getting lots of questions and interest in this, so we’re working hard to finalize all of the details surrounding the event. Check back next Friday and registration should be up and running! Once that’s up, we’ll add the registration for our second PE training to be held in May via Second Life.
Make sure to keep an eye on our Training page for the latest updates. Another way to stay up-to-date with the CDP is via social media. Check us out on Facebook, Twitter or even Google Plus.
In the blog this week, Dr. Michelle Cornette examined a study on the link between self-discrepancy and suicidal ideation. It’s an interesting look at how the clash between a person’s idealized self and actual self can cause emotional distress and even behavioral health issues. The latest edition of our weekly Research Update is packed with relevant journal articles, news and useful links from around the Web.
That’s all for this time around. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you next week with a new entry in By the Numbers.
