CDP News: Jan. 10, 2014

Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to spend a little time every Friday reviewing recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. After a bit of a lull over the holidays, we were back out there hard at work with training events this week. We spent Tuesday and Wednesday at the University of California at Irvine teaching Cognitive Processing Therapy as part of the University Counseling Center Core Competency Extended (UC4-e) program.

Speaking of our UC4 program, we’ve got a couple of events coming up. First, at the end of the month, 29 January, we’re headed to the University of Texas at Tyler. Then on 4 March, we’ll be presenting at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, which we recently added to our schedule. Keep an eye on our training schedule, we’ve got several other UC4 trainings that will be added soon as well.

This week we also posted a new job opening for an EBP Champion Consultant/Psychologist at Fort Benning, GA. We’ve got several other career opportunities available as well, so if you’re interested, head over to our Jobs section and take a look at the available positions.

This week’s Staff Perspective column featured Dr. Heather Anson talking with Dr. Marjorie Weinstock about the impact military life can have on families. Dr. Weinstock is a subject matter expert on the topic as well as a military spouse, so she’s well-versed in the unique challenges that face military families! Also, don’t forget to check out this week’s Research Update for the latest journal articles, news and useful links from around the Web.

That’s all for this edition. Have a great weekend and we’ll see everyone back here next week for a new By the Numbers entry!
