CDP News: Mar. 7, 2014

Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, as well as looking ahead to upcoming events. First up this week is the announcement that we’ve opened up registration for our second online Prolonged Exposure Therapy training. This two-day event will be held 8-9 May in Second Life. If you’re interested participating in this event, you should act quickly as space is limited. Judging by demand, our second event will fill up quickly. We’ve already reached capacity on our first online event and have opened up a waiting list for it.

Once again, the weather threw us for a bit of a loop this week. We were scheduled to present our University Counseling Center Core Competency program on Tuesday at Morgan State University in Baltimore, but the weather had other ideas. We were forced to postpone it and instead we’ll be running that UC4 event next Tuesday, March 11th. We’ve recently added even more events to our UC4 schedule including presentations at Widener University in Pennsylvania and at the University of Buffalo in New York.

We recently finalized the dates and location for our 2014 Central Plains Regional 1-Week Civilian Training. We’ll be headed to St. Louis, Mo 9-13 June. Keep an eye on our Civilian Training Page for more information as we add it. We’re planning on opening registration for this event towards the end of March. Speaking of which, registration for our 1-week training event in Washington, D.C. 14-18 April is ongoing and filling up fast as well.

This week’s Staff Perspective took a closer look at our newest training opportunities, the live online PE training programs we’ve got coming up. If you’re interested in learning more about the events or the registration requirements, check it out. Also, don’t forget to take a look at this week’s Research Update. It’s got lots of great journal articles, relevant news, and useful links from all around the Web.

Finally, we’ve got several career opportunities at locations across the country. Head over to our Jobs page to see what we’ve currently got available.

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you next time!
