CDP News: Nov. 20, 2016
Welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. Next week is Thanksgiving, which kicks off the holiday season and will slow our face-to-face training down some, but we've still got plenty to talk about.
Though we're not traveling as much in-person, we've got lots going on in the online arena. First up, we've got recordings of all of the presentation from this year's Joining Forces Wellness Week. All five days are now available for on-demand viewing here. Unfortuantly, continuing educations credits aren't yet avilable for the recordings. However, we're working with our partnering organization to add CE/CME/CNEs. We hope to have these available in the near future.
Next up, we've got our monthly CDP Presents webinar on 9 December from noon to 1:30 p.m. EST. This month's topic will be "Understanding Depression in Service Members and Veterans: An Overview." Those who sign up, attend the presentation, and complete a post-event evaluation will receive one free CE. You can also check out all of our past events by clicking here.
Registration is currently open for our December online training, Prolonged Exposure Therapy via Second Life. This training will take place on 15-16 December. Registration for this event is $30 and comes with 13.5 CEs. There are only a few spots left, so sign up quick! If you miss out, we've also got another two-day training on 14-15 January. This one will be focued on Cognitive Processing Therapy. The registration fee and CEs are the same. For more information or to registration, please click here.
If you’re interested in learning more about military culture and would like the opportunity to gain some free CEUs, we invite you to take the four-module Military Culture: Core Competencies for Healthcare Professionals. This self-paced online course is designed to help providers gain an understanding of the importance of and breadth of military culture. Each module in the course is eligible for two CEU credits upon completion of the final exam, for a total of eight possible credits.
Finally, this week in the CDP blog, our Staff Perspective entry was by Dr. Kelly Chrestman. In it, she review the book "Review of Exposure Therapy for Anxiety: Principles and Practice". Dr. Chrestman discusses the components and the importance of it to several audiences of providers. Also, don’t forget to take a few minutes to read this week’s Research Update on the CDP’s Blog. It’s got all the latest news, articles and plenty of useful links related to deployment psychology.
That’s all for now. We hope everyone has a great weekend. Come back join us on Monday for a new entry in our “By the Numbers” column.
