CDP News: Nov. 22, 2013

It’s Friday and time for the latest edition of CDP News, where we take a few moments to look back at recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, as well as looking ahead to upcoming events. It’s been a busy week as everyone prepares for the upcoming holiday shortened week ahead.

The Center for Deployment Psychology's University Counseling Center Core Competency (UC4) program got a nice plug in the Frederick News-Post newspaper. Sharon Holland, deputy vice-president for external affairs at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences wrote a letter to the editor about the program in response to a recent article in the News-Post about difficulties faced by student-Veterans as they transitioned to campus life.

We posted a recording of a presentation CDP Deputy Director, Dr. Bill Brim, gave on sleep disorders in military members here. It’s about an hour and a half long, but well worth checking out for interested behavioral health providers.

Speaking of Dr. Brim, he was the author of this week’s Staff Perspectives column on our blog. In it, he detailed the history and collaborative efforts that went into the creation of the new military culture course, as well as the associated resource page, located on our site. It’s an interesting look behind-the-scenes at the process. Don’t forget to read this week’s Research Update as well. Not is it full of relevant information, as usual, but since next Thursday is a holiday, you’ll have to wait two weeks for the next edition!

There are several open positions available at the CDP, including a few newly posted ones. We’ve got jobs at the CDP headquarters, as well as ones working all across the country. Head on over to our Jobs section and take a look at the variety of options we’ve got.

That’s all for this week. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you next week!
