CDP News: August 30, 2013
It’s the end of the week, but before you take off for the holiday weekend, join us for the latest edition of CDP News! As always, we’ll be taking a look back at recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, as well as upcoming events. The kids aren’t the only ones headed back to school, we’ll be bringing the University Counseling Center Core Competency (UC4) program to Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA this Thursday, Sept. 5. The following week on 11-12 Sept., we’ll be visiting Penn. State University for our UC4-E program and teaching a two-day session on Cognitive Processing Therapy.
We’d like to take a moment to welcome the newest employees to CDP, Hakimah Campbell, who joins us as the Administrative Assistant for the Civilian Programs and Lindsay Cerimele, who is working in the same position for our military programs. Welcome aboard!
This week’s Staff Voices column on our blog was by Dr. Laura Cho-Stutler. She took a look at an article that spotlights the topic of patient-provider confidentiality in a military environment. This is an important topic that is often asked about by providers who are unfamiliar with working with military clients. It contains lots of good information and is certainly worth checking out. Speaking of good information, don’t forget to take a look at this week’s Research Update, which is full of news, journal articles and links from around the Web.
Finally, one more reminder that registration for our regional 1-week civilian training in San Diego, CA 7-11 Oct. is ongoing. This popular course covers a wide variety of topics related to deployment that face Service Members, Veterans, and their families. It’s designed to help increase the skills and knowledge for providers working with or interested in working with a military population.
That’s it for this time around. Have a great long weekend everyone. We’ll see you next week!
