CDP News: Mar. 14, 2014
Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. On the training front, this week we brought our University Counseling Center Core Competency program to Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD. This was a rescheduled event due to the winter storm the previous week. Despite the delay, things went quite well all around and both the audience and presenters seemed to have a good experience.
Speaking of the UC4, it’s shaping up to be a busy spring for that program. We’ve been adding more and more events all the time as we find great partner colleges and universities. There are several events all across the country in the next couple of months, including newly added events at Kansas State University and Widener University in Chester, PA. Visit the UC4 section to learn more about the program and see how you can bring it to your local school.
Next week is going to be pretty quiet on the communication and blog front, as most of the CDP staff are going to be out of the office for our all-staff meeting. We’re bringing all of our team together to look at the current state of the center and how we can accomplish our mission ever more effectively.
After we return, we plan on opening up registration for the 2014 Central Plains Regional 1-Week Civilian Training to be held 9-13 June 2014 in St. Louis, MO. If you can’t make it to Washington, D.C. for the April event, St. Louis will be a great opportunity for civilian behavioral health providers to increase their skills in working with a military population. Speaking of the D.C. event, registration for it closes two weeks from today. If you’re interested in attending, make sure you sign up soon! Space at the venue is limited and we’re approaching some of our attendance caps.
This week’s Staff Perspective piece took a look at the Provider Community section of our website. If you’ve ever wondered what sort of post-training support the CDP provides to attendees, take a look at that article. It gives a look at some of the resources available exclusively to providers who have been through one of our trainings on evidence-based therapies. As always, if you missed the weekly Research Update, you’ll want to circle back around and check that out.
