CDP News: March 22, 2013
Happy Friday and welcome to the latest edition of CDP News where we take a quick look at all the newest happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology. First up, last week we were out in Phoenix for our 2013 Southwest Regional 1-Week Civilian Training. It was a great time and we’d like to thank all our participants and presenters for making it such a success all around. While on the topic of our week-long trainings, next Friday is the last day to register for our 2013 South Regional 1-Week Civilian Training to be held in the Oklahoma City metro area April 8-12.
This is a great opportunity to receive training on a wide variety of issues facing our Service Members, their families and providers themselves. If you can’t attend this session, we’ll be announcing our next locations soon. Keep an eye on our civilian training page, Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date on our training opportunities.
Phoenix wasn’t the only place out west we visited either! We also spent two days at the University of Texas at San Antonio for our University Counseling Center Core Competency Extended program. This follow-up is designed to expand upon the ideas introduced in our standard UC4 program and to provide advanced training in evidence-based psychotherapies. Visit the UC4-e section for more information and to check out our upcoming schedule of events.
As a reminder for those who have attended CDP training events and have access to our online Provider Portal, don’t forget about our weekly consultation calls. Every Monday, CDP staff members host a conference call to allow providers to ask questions and receive advice from subject matter experts. For more information, log in to the Providers area and click on the “Consultation” link.
If you missed it this week, take a look at CDP Deputy Director Dr. Bill Brim’s Staff Voices column from this week. He takes a look at sleepwalking and its treatments. Our weekly Research Update also had quite a few interesting entries in it too, so don’t forget to check it out as well.
That’s all for this week. We’ll see you back here on Monday with a new By the Numbers entry. Have a good weekend everyone!
