CDP News: February 8, 2013

Happy Friday and welcome to this week's CDP News Update, where we take a quick look at recent and upcoming happenings in and around the CDP. First up, we've spent this week running our "Topics in Deployment Psychology" Training in Bethesda. The first few days have gone well and hopefully the three days next week will continue in the same fashion.

On the topic of upcoming training, we've recently announced several new locations for our University Counseling Center Core Competency program. It's going to be a very busy spring as we visit a variety of universities across the country! Next up in the UC4 lineup, we'll be headed to the University of Florida at Gainesville on February 21. For more information about this or other events on the UC4 schedule, click here.

For those interested, we've posted several job openings with the CDP. These positions include Web Content Developer, Director of Military Training, Deployment Behaviorial Health Psychologist and others. To learn more about these open positions and others, check out the Jobs section on our website.

If you missed it, take a few minutes to read Dr. Marjorie Weinstock's interview with CAPT Scott L. Johnson, director of the Naval Center for Combat & Operational Stress Control. They talk about the new Psychological Health Pathways pilot program, which is designed to help Sailors and Marines access and receive behavioral health care. Also, as always, the weekly Research Update has any number of interesting articles and links to check out.

Finally, time is running out to register for our first week-long training of the year, "Addressing the Psychological Health of Warriors and Their Families." This training will be held in Phoenix, from March 11-15. Registration ends for this event on March 1, so if you're interested in attending this great training, sign up today!

That's it for now. Have a great weekend everyone.
