CDP News: Apr. 11, 2014

Happy Friday and welcome to this week’s edition of CDP News! We like to use this space to review recent happenings in and around the Center for Deployment Psychology, while also looking ahead to upcoming events. It's been a very exciting week around here! On Thursday and Friday, we presented our first ever online Prolonged Exposure training session via Adobe Connect.

It went really well for the presenters and the attendees seemed to get a lot out of it as well. We had people connecting in from across the country and receiving the same high-quality training as our face-to-face sessions. We've got another online training event via Second Life coming up 8-9 May. If you're interested in taking part in an online training, we'll be adding more of these opportunities to our training calendar in the near future, so keep an eye out for more details!

Speaking of upcoming events, we've also been busy preparing for next week's Mid-Atlantic Regional 1-Week training here in Washington, D.C. Registration for that event has closed, but registration is still open for the Central Plains Regional 1-Week training in St. Louis, MO 9-13 June. These are great opportunities for behavioral health providers to receive a lot of training and sharpen their existing skills.

The University Counseling Center Core Competency program visited the University of Montana Western at Dillon, MT. Next up, we'll be headed to Kansas State University on April 24.

Finally, we'd like to take a moment to formally welcome Dr. Brandy Hellman to the team. She will be serving as the Deployment Behavioral Health Psychologist at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Welcome aboard!

That's all for this time around. Have a great weekend everyone and we'll see you next week!
